RAD PDF 1.9 Released

Version 1.9 of the ASP.NET PDF viewer, PDF form filler, and PDF editor, RAD PDF, has been released.

This new version allows web users to add images to PDF files, empowers developers to adjust PDF rendering resolution, and improves future browser compatibility.

One of our most requested features, we encourage you to try the new RAD PDF image adding tool online in our interactive ASP.NET PDF Viewer Demonstration. At this time, RAD PDF supports the addition of the following image types:

  • BMP
  • GIF
  • JPEG
  • PNG

This new feature makes it easy for your customers to upload and attach digital representations of their signature, photos, logos, watermarks, or more! Images can also be added server side allowing you to pre-add an image from your database, allowing your we user to either review it or even drag and resize it into place.

This new version also provides a number of bug fixes and minor feature updates.

This is a free upgrade for all customers with an active Maintenance Plan.

Release Notes

Add Images to PDF Files Using PDFescape

UPDATE: Red Software is no longer affiliated with PDFescape, but this feature is still available in our RAD PDF technology. Edit your PDF with our online implementation, free of charge!
Red Software is proud to announce an important new feature for its free PDF editor, PDFescape, image inserting.

Add Images to PDF files

This new feature makes it easy to add images and scanned copies of signatures to PDF documents. At this time, the following image formats are supported:
  • BMP
  • GIF
  • JPG
  • PNG
To insert an image with a transparent background (such as a signature), we recommend creating a GIF image with a transparent background using image editing software (e.g. Photoshop, Paint.NET, etc).

PDFescape Premium

UPDATE: Red Software is no longer affiliated with PDFescape.

Red Software is proud to announce the latest addition to its free PDF editor, PDFescape, Premium Accounts.

For a limited time, PDFescape Premium is available to all users of PDFescape. This exciting new program includes:

  • An ad-free workspace (more pleasant experience and larger).
  • A flat fee of $10 per year.
  • No automatic billing or renewals.
  • Free addition of new, to-be-announced perks for Premium users in the future.

For users not wishing to upgrade, nothing is changing. PDFescape's PDF editor is still 100% free. No watermarks. No gimmicks.

PDFescape File Size Limit Increased

UPDATE: Red Software is no longer affiliated with PDFescape, but this feature is still available in our RAD PDF technology. Edit your PDF with our online implementation, free of charge! (50 MB / 2500 page per file limits)

Red Software is proud to announce that the maximum allowed file size for its free PDF editor, PDFescape, has been increased from 2 MB (megabytes) to 5 MB per file.

More than double the limit put in place by Google Docs for PDF files*, this file size limit increase allows users of our free PDF editing and form filling service to open larger, more graphic rich PDF files and forms.

*Currently, Google Docs imposes a 2 MB limit for all PDF files you wish to open in Google Docs. (Google calls this a "conversion" to Google Docs, however it only allows basic PDF viewing, text selection, and searching. PDFescape offers these features too, in addition to form filling, PDF editing, PDF form creation, and many more which Google Docs does not.)

PDFescape Google Chrome Extension

UPDATE: Red Software is no longer affiliated with PDFescape.

Red Software is proud to announce a new Google Chrome extension for our free PDF editor and free PDF form filler, PDFescape.

This new extension makes it easy to open and edit PDF files found while browsing the web using Google Chrome. When a PDF link is clicked, a drop down appears asking if that PDF should be opened and able to be edited / form filled in PDFescape.
